Yep, the same <a href=\"http:\/\/absolutegeeky.com\/oook\/2007\/01\/new-phone\">one<\/a> I just bought a few months ago. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>Which made me think, since all phones have a unique <abbr title=\"International Mobile Equipment Identity\">IMEI<\/abbr> number, why isn&#8217;t there some sort of national registry where I can lodge my IMEI number (after proving that I indeed purchased that phone.)<\/p>\n<p>The purpose? All service providers in the country will be required to constantly check with this registry and search their networks for the phone with that IMEI number<\/p>\n<p>They could then track the user of that phone and thus return the lost\/stolen phone to its rightful owner!<\/p>\n<p>Wishful thinking&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this week, I lost my phone.
